Okay - don't laugh, but Saturday I spent a whopping 5 hours at the Mall of America with my mom - yep, that's right...the biggest mall in the US complete with roller coasters, wedding chapel, and stores like Minnesota-ah!...we needed to do some power shopping for my cousin's back to school wardrobe and of course I couldn't resist picking up a few goodies for myself - like this lace top from American Apparel (I've been on the lookout since spotting Miss Lucy's above)...
I'd forgotten how fun finding bargains can be...I've been lusting over this seersucker skirt for $178 at Steven Alan but picked up a similar one at Urban Outfitters for only $20!
and remember those $500 Lanvin flats I was swooning about - well the Gap has some mighty comfy ones for under $40...and I traded out my $250 J Crew two tone brogues for UO's $48 version
Of course, the quality isn't the same but for a little wardrobe supplementing I'd say it was a day & dollar well spent...
plus I saved so much that I might have to splurge on these Frye boots everyone's going gaga for (spotted at Greedy Girl)
over the knee boots...yes? no? I think these are the ones to do...I'd feel a bit like Henry VIII on the Tudors (do you watch? I completely broke down when Anne B got chopped) xoxo...
Cute!
ReplyDeletemy good friend has the UO $48 dollar version. LOVE THEM. She just wore them yesterday with rolled up cords above the ankle.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info. I think I'll buy those Gap flats right now. I've been looking for a pair:)
ReplyDeleteooh oh ohh. The "Lanvin" flats from the Gap. I'm there. I want to like the two tone brogues so much, but I feel like I am wearing jazz shoes ala 8th grade. I can't do it. What is wrong with me?
ReplyDeleteOh no! The boots did me in. I went straight to piperlime and got the flat-heeled version of the Frye over-the-knees. (I'm almost six feet tall, so even a 2-inch heel makes me into an amazon).
ReplyDeleteI love love love the flats! And the boots...I feel like I would wear the flats more than the boots though! Hard decision!
ReplyDeletehow walkable are the flats? my (former!) shoe repair guy lost repetto bolshois and a pair of black boots... I'm thinking not replacing the bolshoi right now means I can justify those frye bots (yes, I'm lusting too), but nothing i try as a cheaper option seems to be cutting it. So-- should I check out the gap shoes? or just stuck it up and replace the bolshois (I like to walk....)?
ReplyDeleteI bet those boots would be a great investment; I got a pair of n.d.c. boots a few years ago that are similar, and I still love them and they are holding up really well!
ReplyDeleteoooooohh...i like the seersucker skirt!
ReplyDeletei can barely get boots above my thick calves. no idea how i could get them above my knee!! cute finds!
