There's nothing like a weekend bookended by funerals to make you truly appreciate time spent with your loved ones...so Saturday we packed in as much spirited, holiday fun as possible...spent the morning sledding on the newly fallen snow (I even took a few turns, but let me tell you climbing back up a hill in snow gear with a 5 month baby bump is no easy task!) then headed off to Linden Hills to pet reindeer, go caroling in a horse drawn sleigh, make advent wreaths at Wonderment, decorate antlers, and nosh on freshly baked bread...When we returned home L & I made pomanders - the easiest & best smelling winter craft ever, and homemade granola (using David Lebovitz's recipe but adding in chocolate, coconut & dried cherries a la Heather & Lauren)...after tucking the little one in I even ordered our Christmas photo cards (tiny prints, red stamp, and Minted have a great selection) - which for a slacker like me is pretty unheard of before December 15th...I might tackle this season with flying colors after all! How's your December shaping up? Still on my list - making window stars & this wreath...I feel so abnormally crafty - must be the baby hormones...
Speaking of making - The Go to Girls are serving up Enchilada Soup for the Recipe Exchange - perfect for the super chilly weather we're having (single digits again? Ugh!!)
Happy Monday! xoxo, M
I'm very sorry to hear about your losses. Absolutely puts everything in perspective. And your holiday activities sound perfect. Love all your homemade goodness.
ReplyDeleteyou sure did pack it in for a Saturday! Looks like so much fun! xx
ReplyDeleteL in antlers made my Monday. Glad you turned some sadness into what sounds like holiday happy times.
ReplyDeleteWOW! I'm totally inspired! I now have several 'MUST-DO in the next 7 days' projects bookmarked. Okay, maybe, I won't get to all of them, in 7 days none-the-less, but thank you for the wonderful ideas!
ReplyDeleteHats off to you for having a productive, festive weekend- in spite of, and in light of your recent loss... and inspiring us in the process:).
mmm... two funerals... so sorry... sounds like the other parts of your weekend were full of good cheer. I have been dying to make some pomanders, the last time I made them were in brownies and I can not stop thinking of them.
ReplyDeleteI love the collage of pictures - so sweet!
ReplyDelete...printing the pomander instructions (and the window stars) up right now! It's funny... you wrote this on December 6th, the same day I wrote my post on fun weekend holiday activities. I remember reading it and was so excited to do some of these throughout the coming weeks. But then- as I wrote in yesterday's post- it kind of all went downhill from there. NOT going to let that happen this year. :)
