MPLS - A Green Holiday at The Green Goober

The Green Goober is one of my favorite places to shop for Lila.  Specializing in eco friendly, safe toys and games for children, it's a lovely space to shop.  They are always so friendly and have great customer service.  Be warned though...I always have the hardest time getting Lila to leave!
We asked owner Amee Whittaker for her top 5 favorite toys this season - all under $30!  Of course I had to add in one of our faves as well...

The Kitchen Helper Series by local wood turner Jim Sannerud. They retail at $29.95. Each set comes with a cutting board, rolling pin or spoon, and a bowl or carving tool. They are all made by hand from reclaimed wood. Best of all they are food safe!

Beka Ring Toss Game is a family favorite for a wide age range. It retails at $25 and is made from hard maple by a company in St. Paul. It's a game that will get everyone up and having a good time.

Yet another local company, Rove Arounds makes a fantastic "Linus Blanket". They are hand made 30" x 36" blankets. They pick fun fabrics that are always a hit with kids and they are constructed to stand up to abuse. They retail at $28.

Green Toys recycled plastic Tea Set makes a perfect gift for kids 3-7. It's made in California from recycled milk cartons. They have a great feel and both boys and girls love them. It retails at $25.

Earthopoly is a family board game for ages 8 and up. It's a spin on Monopoly but after players buy properties they then collect carbon credits and trade them for clean air. The game pieces are made of materials like bamboo, lima beans, crystals, stone, shells, and wood. It retails at $24.95

Here's mine (and Lila's) favorite pick - Plan Toys Eco Town...her nonny bought it for her 2nd b-day and it's been a huge hit!
Eco Town by Plan Toys includes an eco home, eco train station, eco charging station for electric cars, eco street accessories and a play mat. Plan your city any way you want as long as it's eco! With solar panel roofs and electric cars, this eco town is made from solid wood and is completely non-toxic.
