Bangs, poufs, Pigtails and pics...

Hello friends! I had to play hooky yesterday to run off and finally get some love for my poor neglected tresses...I realized I've been getting the same cut (with a few color tweaks here and there) for oh, at least the last decade...but when you finally find your signature style I think it's nice for hair to not be such a trendy thing, no?  Didn't the 60's/early 70's have the absolute best hair?  I think Zooey & Adele have such great modern versions of that look...I'll probably be pushing 80 with long locks and bangs...adding a little tease for some glamour...lately I've been rocking some pigtails, which at 36 might be goofy but when you hang out with littles all day it's hard to not be influenced, eh?
What say you? Is there an age when you need to cut it off and have serious, grown up hair?

Speaking of pigtails...the lovely Paige Winn came over yesterday to shoot some pics of the girls & I...can you tell which one didn't want to have her picture taken? Oh lordy, Lila was in a mood (did I resort to begging, pleading, promises of chocolate and the much denied Barbie? I'll never tell... let's just say there was less than stellar parenting happening - at least my nieces were here to help) but Paige was super patient and I think the pictures turned out fantastic...Paige does amazing wedding shoots and just moved to Charleston, SC (lucky her!) but is in the twin cities working on some projects as well...
xoxo, M

  1. I hate that so many women chop off their hair as they age. I day stick with whatever length you like, at any age! I recently chopped mine and I feel like I look like every other mom out there now. I need some length back. Not as much as I had, that was too much. But some.

  3. Oh wow. So pretty Michelle ("mood" and all :)).

I always appreciate your classic, *classy, independent sense of style... with a little 'wild' mixed in. Such a nice highlight of my day.

(and I'm with ya all the way in regards to hair... even with my mom being a hair stylist, I stick with minor tweaks here and there)

  4. Beautiful photos of your beautiful family! And yes, I'm a little ashamed to admit how much hair occupies my thoughts. Sort of coveting Zooey's bangs now...

  5. OMG the photos are precious!

I have major bang envy. With my wavy mess, they are a no-go.

  6. These pictures are gorgeous! The photographer did an amazing job. My girls never seem to want to cooperate when it comes to family photo time either. If we get at least one or two shots where everyone looks happy it's a miracle!

  8. I love the photos. They are so good, seriously. Your girls are so sweet and cute.

I've been wanting to add bangs back again. I feel like they would give me a bit more of a look when most days my hair is just air dried and combed through.

  10. There is no way in hell I could pull off pigtails. I just grew my hair out to a very long length. I am surprised at how much I love it. I just turned 36 too and I feel younger with long hair...which is a bit ridiculous. I have bangs, but I have to keep them long because I have 3 (yes,3) cowlicks.
In other news....look at those precious little muffins! They are so adorable. That picture of Big L is priceless. Pretty much captures 3 years old in a nutshell. And Little L is growig so fast. You look smashing as usual. Great photos girlie.
    Best,
    Tina

  13. I love these pictures!! They are fabulous!! Even big L and those looks we all know so well. HA. When Zac had his 3 yr pics, he had discovered our Diego band aids that morning, He had them plastered on his legs and refused to take them off. So, his 3 yr pic has Diego band aids all over his legs. I guess these pics will remind us of these days and make us laugh and smile even more than the simple smile pics. But these are really great - really loved them!
