I went to see (500) Days of Summer last night and was completely charmed by it. It's a wonderful, romantic film with a
great soundtrack, terrific performances and inspired wardrobe choices. Zooey Deschanel is dressed in a million shades of blue throughout and personifies pretty. Here's my homage to her character Summer.(Is it too much to hope my husband would adopt Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Grandpa Cardigans, sweater vests, and skinny ties? So Cute!)
Her character is always very feminine and a little vintage - never showy or flashy. It was a great reminder that sometimes looking pretty is better than looking cool. So, let's start with this cute little blue & white
Converse® One Star® Striped Shirtdress I spied at Target last week. It fits the bill at only $29.99
She wears some great flat boots, slip on keds, and cute wedges in the movie, but these look the part as well.
Sven Clogs can be customized to your liking and I love the vintage/european feel (Thanks for the tip Bridgett!). This is a gorgeous Robin's Egg Blue - $148
To add a little quirky flair, Zooey D wore some great butterfly pins in her hair and as brooches...I think it looks fresh in Cloisonne instead of a traditional rhinestone setting - $6.00
Finally, here's the perfect layering piece to bring it into Fall - pretty in periwinkle or navy -
the Jackie Shell at J Crew - $39.50 This would be fab over a liberty print shirt as well!
til inspiration strikes again...xoxo - M
