Did you happen to catch Caroline Ventura on Jen Causey's The Makers last week?  You probably recognize her as A Cup of Jo's gorgeous hair tutorial guru/model...and she also happens to be the wildly talented designer behind the jewelry line BRVTVS...

I was lucky enough to meet up with her and fellow designer Ilana Kohn last week in New York for a rambling shopping excursion around the Lower East Side and was even more impressed in person...it's so nice to know the personalities behind the collections especially when they are as lovely, down to earth and fun as these two!  I'm crazy about the simplicity of BRVTVS - you can shop it here...and I managed to snag a couple more Abby dresses from Ilana...perfect for these last days of summer but equally cute layered under a cardi with some booties for fall!

Well friends, tomorrow I turn 37...37, 37, 37...and I'm pretty good with that...life is never perfect but it feels like I'm in a content place...(knock on wood)...the girlies two are growing up...The big L has one last year of preschool, little L is easing into toddlerville, the hubby and I are back to really liking each other again (hey, that new baby year is rough on marriage - just being honest!)...and the shop is growing but not getting too unruly...

Sure, I still can't remember ANYTHING unless I write it down, I'm still a month behind on emails, I can't blog these days to save my life, my house clutter will probably never be under control, my dinner menu is still utterly dependent on the Trader Joe's frozen section, there are days when a shower & a cocktail seem like heaven, and I haven't left the house past 7pm in over a year...but these are very minor, trivial things, no?

speaking of this little blog, it turned 3 a couple of weeks back!  Hopefully one day, when both littles are in school I can put my thoughts back in order for some real posts but for now I am happy to annoy you now & then with my shopping tidbits and tempt you with all that my store holds - I have to admit I felt guilty about this for a while, but the truth is that blogging about random stuff on a daily basis is just kind of a luxury for me that had to fall by the wayside...and I feel so lucky that I get to work with so many amazing designers for the shop that promoting & selling their work is pretty much a complete pleasure...

I know I'm not the only one, but I'm currently on a full blown baggy pants obsession... I bought these and have been alternating them with the leopard numbers...super lightweight and pajama esque - these are my stand ins for yoga pants (which admittedly if I actually went to yoga and had the butt to prove it I might knock around town in...)...pair it back with a drapey tee or easy buttondown and layer on a chunky cardi when the temps drop...done & done...

Did you know that my lovely friend Emily has a gorgeous online vintage store? She has such amazing taste & a really great eye!  Plus, right now she is having a little summer sale...so go check out Collect if you haven't already!  

On a side note...if you have been reading this book - Overdressed: The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap Fashion - and are looking to get away from cheap, mass produced, sweatshop goods...vintage is such a great, affordable, fashionable way to get dressed...I know I'm always advocating made in the usa, small designer goodness but I'm fully aware that it's not always very budget friendly...
